Turism in Madeira

Madeira is an island situated in a subtropical region, this contributes for its mild climate. This climate had once the reputation of reliefing sick people with tuberculosis, for that reason many foreigners went to Madeira in the end of the XIX century. One of those foreigners was Langerhans the imnent histologist. Winston Churchill was also an admiror of Madeiras sights and climate.

Nowadays Madeira continues to be visited by a large number of foreigners but for other reasons:
